Description: The following process will instruct the user on the steps to start and run the application using the shortcut on the USB drive. This is for a new installation and the Cabinet Folder Path has NOT yet been created. The cabinet folder path will be set to the drive letter of the USB so that when the application is run it will look for the Cabinets, Folders and data on the USB drive.
- Insert the USB device in the workstation port
- Open the Windows folder ‘This PC’
- Double click on the Drive Letter for the USB Device.
- In the illustration shown above the drive name and letter are: DEXIT_USB (U:)
- The (root) folder of the drive will appear.
- In our illustration below the drive contains references to 3 items of unique type:
- Program Files (x86) – Type: File Folder
- DEXIT.exe – Type: Application (This is the Setup/Installer)
- DEXIT.exe – Shortcut – Type: Shortcut
- Double click on DEXIT.exe – Shortcut
- The application will start
- The Cabinet Folder Manager window prompt will appear as illustrated below.
- The Cabinet Folder Path will default to :
- ‘C:\Users\ pc name>\OneDrive\Documents\DEXIT.AI\Cabinet’
- Note it is defaulting to the main workstation drive letter ‘C:\’ on your workstation. This will be updated because we are installing to an external USB device.
- IMPORTANT: This needs to be changed to the drive letter of the USB that the application has been installed on.
- Change the drive letter to the current letter of the USB the application was installed too.
- Click the ‘lookup’ button to select a different data path
- The ‘Browse For Folder – Select your Program Data folder’ window will appear
- Scroll down the list and find ‘> This PC” in the list.
- Click on the ‘>’ to open to pick a device from the list.
- Click the button with the green check mark - “OK” located at the bottom right corner of the window.
- The Cabinet Folder Path: is now set to “U:/” as illustrated below.
Adding Your Folder Name to the Path
- In this step you will be adding the cabinet folder name. In this illustration we will use the name ‘MyFirstCabinet’.
- Add this name or a name of your choice as illustrated below.
- Click on the Ok button on the bottom of the form to save the record.
- The new Cabinet Folder will appear in the list of files on the USB Device
- The Cabinet Manager will appear
Creating (Adding) Our First Cabinet Folder on the USB Device
- Click the
button on the Cabinet Manager window.
2) The ‘Create New Data Set’ window will appear.
3) Note: The following fields have been pre-filled:
- Cabinet Type: [x] Base
- Cabinet Dataset Type: [x] Create a new Managed Data Folder…
- Cabinet Folder Name: DataSet1
- Managed Folder Name: DataSet1
- Cabinet Folder Path:
- U:\MyFirstCabinet\DataSet1
4) Change the Cabinet Folder Name: to “MyDEXIT” as illustrated below.
5) Press 
to save your changes.
- The new Cabinet Name “MyDEXIT’ will appear in the list as illustrated below.
Open Folder - Get a Software License, Add Some Data to Cabinet Folder ‘MyDEXIT’
- Click the
button while the Cabinet Name ‘MyDEXIT’ is selected.
- The “Subscription License Expired! – Contact Vendor to Renew License.” message will appear as illustrated below.
- Not to worry I’ll show you how to get a license a little further on in this tutorial.
3) Click on the [ OK ] button
- Important Note: If the “DEXIT Software Update” window appears simply click “No”.
4) Next, we will get a Software License Key to activate our software. The key is good for a period of 14-Days FREE. After the 14-Days contact Sales for information on how to get a permanent software license key.
5) Click on the pop-up arrow directly to the right of the Gold Lock button as shown in the illustration below. Then click on the menu option ‘License’.
6) The Software License window will appear. Three (3) of the fields on the form are required as indicated by the red underline in the box. At a minimum the software license key will need these (3) fields completed with your information to generate a License Key.
7) Complete the required information. The following illustrates a completed window; the information is used for illustration purposes only.
8) After the fields have been completed it is now time to get a software license key from the web.
9) Click the 
button.
10) The application will go to the secure license key server and create a personal license key based on the information that has been entered into the form. This may take a few seconds.
11) The “License Updated” message box will appear showing that ‘The license was successfully updated’.
12) Click on the [ OK ] to continue
13) To visually verify that you have received a Software License key click on the window TAB labeled ‘License’ as illustrated below.
14) To save your Software License click the 
button.
15) The License Updated message box will appear, click the OK button to continue.
- The software license window and message boxes will disappear. The Main Application window will appear.
- Click the Exit button as shown below to close the application.
- You return to the home folder of the USB drive. If you did not return to the home folder open “This PC”, locate your USB Device.
- Start the application click on the DEXIT.exe Shortcut.
- The Cabinet Manager will appear, Click the Select Cabinet button while the MyDEXIT cabinet is highlighted.
- The application will open. If you receive the DEXIT Software Update message, click No to exit the message and not update.
- The application is now fully installed and the software license key has been applied. This can be visually verified by viewing the applications license bar which is located at the top of the window. The Issued: and Expire: license dates have been set. Also, the Type: has been set to ‘temporary’ meaning that the application is using the 14-Day FREE Trial License. Another visual indicator that the software license has been properly assigned is that the Command Bars have been enabled.
