Creating Operator Accounts

Role Definition and Purpose

• The Operator role represents the standard security level within the DEXIT application, designed for everyday users who perform routine system operations. 
• These accounts form the foundation for the system's daily usage for an individual, a business that has multiple users or across an organization.

Account Creation Process

When establishing Operator accounts, SysAdmins must:

• Create a unique UserID for each individual user
• Assign an initial password that complies with organizational security policies
• Configure the account with appropriate "Default Rights"

By default, new Operator accounts are created with basic permissions. 

These can be customized through DEXIT's Group Rights functionality to provide more granular access control based on organizational requirements.

Access Control Configuration

DEXIT provides comprehensive access management capabilities:

• Default rights can be applied globally to all Operator accounts
• Group-based permissions allow for role-specific access restrictions
• Detailed information about configuring access controls is available in User Reference Section 7 - Security Policy, under "About Security Policy: Policies, Access and Rights"

SysAdmin Responsibilities

SysAdmins are responsible for:

• Creating all user accounts with appropriate "User Levels"
• Establishing initial passwords for each account
• Configuring proper access rights based on organizational roles

User Password Management

While SysAdmins establish initial passwords, users can modify their own credentials by:

• Accessing the Password command bar option
• Located under the Security Admin Feature
• Identified by the "Gold Lock" icon in the interface

This self-service capability allows users to maintain secure passwords while reducing administrative burden on SysAdmins.

SysAdmin Steps to Create Operator (User) Accounts:

1) Start DEXIT application

2) The Cabinet Folder Manager panel will appear

3) Select a Cabinet Name and click [ Select Cabinet ]

3) The Login panel will appear (Login & Password are being used from a previous tutorial and many not match what you've used)

4) Enter the  - Project/User Login: SysAdmin

5) Enter the  - Password: sysadmin143$

7) Open the System Admin Menu Option

8) Select Users

9) The Security Users browse list will appear

10) The first entry in the list is SysAdmin, the 1st and required user 

11) Let's create our operator - Click on the Insert button

12) When the Insert button is selected the "Update User" form will appear, with focus on the "General" TAB.

13) The User Level "Operator" radio button will be enabled by default.

14) Complete the entry of the following fields on the form: the values used are for illustration purposes only.

 VERY IMPORTANT NOTE:

• If you started using the application with a (Basic) installation the default User Login: used by default was named "DEXIT".
• To gain access to records created in (Basic) startup substitute the User Login "Operator" and User Name: "Operator1" below with "DEXIT".
• When logging on as User Login & Name: "DEXIT" all of your digital data previously entered while in (Basic) Mode will be available.

• New Password:      operator143$ - while entering the password it will not be visible, to view the password right click the field and select 'Toggle'
• Email:                  operator1@emailco.com - this should be your/the Operators real user email account - the one used is for illustration only

     - Validated:          'check' this  box to validate your email is correct

• Phone:                +# ###-###-#### - this should be a valid phone number and can be prefixed by the + and country code - this should be the users real phone number - the one being used is for illustration only

     - Validated:          'check' this  box to validate your email is correct

15) Default Rights: Tic on the radio button associated with "All"

• The following illustrates what your completed "General" tab information should resemble:

16) Click the "Other" TAB"

17) Click the radio button associated with Login Type "Program Login"

18) Click the Lookup button associated with the Company:

Note: Requiring Steps (11 thru 14) are temporary and will be set by default in a future release because not all users will use this feature.

19) Once the lookup button has been clicked in step #18 above the "Companies" panel will appear.

20) The "Default" company will already be selected.

21) Click the "Select" button

22) Click the "Close" button.

23) To save and Update the setting created for the SysAdmin user click the [ OK ] button.

24) Security Users browse list will appear

25) The newly created "Operator" record will appear as the first record in the list.

26) Process Complete - click the "Close" button

SysAdmin Account Created

You have completed the steps to create the SysAdmin Account. 

19) In the last step you clicked the [ Close ] button, immediately after that you will be returned to the main application panel as illustrated below.

20) Click "Exit DEXIT" (Close the application)

Note: When logging on the next time the Operator user account will be active and can be used.
