Send Email Settings Configuration in DEXIT

Overview

DEXIT's Send Email Settings feature enables the system to send automated emails for various operational purposes, with password reset functionality being one of the most critical use cases. This configuration ensures secure and reliable email delivery through industry-standard SMTP protocols.

Email Configuration Interface

The Send Email Settings dialog provides a straightforward configuration interface organized into clearly labeled fields that accommodate various email service providers. As shown in the configuration example, administrators can easily input server details, authentication credentials, and security settings through an intuitive form-based interface.

Configuration Fields

• Email Server: The SMTP server hostname for your email provider. This field specifies the outgoing mail server that DEXIT will use to send emails.
• Email Port: The port number for SMTP communication, typically 587 for secure STARTTLS connections or 25 for standard connections.

Security Options: 

• Always TLS: Forces TLS encryption for all communications
• Start TLS: Initiates TLS encryption after establishing the initial connection
• SSL Method: Allows selection of specific TLS/SSL versions (Any TLS, TLS 1.0, TLS 1.1, TLS 1.2) to ensure compatibility with your email provider's security requirements.
• Username: The email account username for SMTP authentication, typically your full email address.
• Password: The corresponding password for the email account, displayed as masked characters for security.
• From Address: The email address that will appear as the sender for all emails sent by DEXIT.

Microsoft 365 on GoDaddy Configuration Example

For organizations using Microsoft 365 email services hosted through GoDaddy, the following configuration settings provide reliable email delivery:

• Email Server: smtp.office365.com
• Email Port: 587
• Security Settings: Enable both "Always TLS" and "Start TLS" options
• SSL Method: Any TLS (recommended for maximum compatibility)
• Username: admin@businesscorp.com
• Password: [Your Microsoft 365 password or app password]
• From Address: admin@businesscorp.com

Important Setup Requirements

• SMTP Authentication: You must enable SMTP Authentication for the user account in your Email & Office Dashboard using your GoDaddy username and password. This is a prerequisite for successful email delivery
• Multi-Factor Authentication Considerations: If you have multi-factor authentication enabled, you'll need to create an app password specifically for DEXIT rather than using your regular account password.
• Security Defaults: If your organization has security defaults enabled, you may need to disable them or properly configure MFA settings to ensure SMTP functionality.

Password Reset Email Functionality

Once properly configured, DEXIT's email system automatically handles password reset requests by sending secure reset links or temporary passwords to users' registered email addresses. This automated process ensures users can regain access to their accounts quickly while maintaining security protocols.

The system validates email settings during configuration to ensure reliable delivery of critical communications, making password resets and other automated notifications seamless for both administrators and end users.
